LunaHawk- Joshua Tree Wilds
I created this collage piece with my photographs from wilderness time, with my Red Thread ladies, in Joshua Tree National Park.
The energy and wisdom of the rattlesnake was present as we visited there many times in the Spring.
There was this beautiful juxtaposition of life and death in the desert, with parts of plants actively dying so that the other part could flourish. It was a beautiful dance.
I am definitely and Earth girl but my connection to water is also necessary and I found myself wandering in this dry landscape remembering the water that was once there. I could feel it in my cells. I could see it in my visions. It was truly an experience to witness this landscape with water even if just imaginally.
As a culture, we have stifled the importance of the imaginal realm and the deep knowing of our selves.
This piece to me reflects all of these themes while paying homage to the four directions, the beautiful creatures of the desert land and sky, and our deep rooted knowing of times past and present.
